Beyond The Canvas
What is art? Let’s explore, experiment, and find out together.
Thanks for dropping by!
Originals
All of the paintings on the site have been created using the “pour” or “fluid” acrylic painting method. This involves the manipulation and movement of paint on canvas or other surfaces. Typically, and maybe surprisingly, no paint brushes are used in the process. Paint is layered and cells are formed through chemistry and physics. Results are often abstract in nature. I have been experimenting with this technique, “going with the flow”, and playing with the boundaries between what is representational and what is pure abstraction. The process can feel chaotic at times and outcomes are often surprising.

Frameable Greeting Cards
These are all occasion and no occasion cards. None of them scream “Happy Birthday” or “Happy Valentines”, but you are encouraged to add your own personal message on the blank insides. The images are photos I have taken over the years and the accompanying “poems” or “musing” are all my originals as well. They are meant to be used as greeting cards, of course, but they are also frameable art. The cards can be opened up and placed in floating frames I have sourced specifically for this purpose. These frames have 2 panes of glass which allows you to be able to view the back (or the inside message) whenever you wish. They are a card and a gift all-in-one.
Community Connection
In an effort to give back to the community and give some relief to people in these hard times, I will be donating $1 from each Frameable Greeting Card to local food banks. Your support is very much appreciated.
The Future Of Beyond The Canvas
-
I am always being inspired by other artists. It is one of the most amazing aspects of living in this internet age that we are able to explore the work of artists from all over the world at any time.
My plans for the near future include playing with more traditional acrylic techniques that, yes, include using a brush! Watercolours have been an on-going interest of mine and I have plans to include them as Originals and as Frameable Greeting Cards as well. Stay tuned!

In the meantime, I hope to encourage everyone to bring art back into their lives at whatever level they are comfortable with; this includes offering more affordable print options and maybe even inspiring some of you to try making art for yourself. The definition of art, for me, goes “beyond the canvas”–it is the interactions, the resonations, the neurological pathways, the visceral emotional response to something created from nothing.
